Il professor Rudy Magnan è un brillante insegnante, autore, ricercatore cognitivo e consulente educativo che ha diretto e condotto numerosi seminari e workshop fra gli Stati Uniti, Europa e Giappone. Ha pubblicato numerosi libri e articoli sullo sviluppo del pensiero laterale con Edward de Bono, massima autorità mondiale nel campo del pensiero creativo. Ha iniziato una collaborazione editoriale e formativa con Creativ. Questa la sua testimonianza relativamente alla recente tragedia americana.

"Mi sono recentemente trasferito a Sandy Hook/Newtown (CT) e qui ho trovato una società tranquilla e pacata, ma che, alla luce della recente strage perpetrata da Adam Lanza e che ha avuto come protagonisti della cronaca nera 20 bambini e sei adulti, nasconde qualcosa di malsano.

La società occidentale soffre: soffre la mancanza, partendo dal nucleo famigliare fino ad arrivare contesto scolastico passando per la rete sociale, di un tessuto educativo in grado di dare rilevanza allo sviluppo dell'essere umano. I nostri figli sono irradiati da una continua esposizione a una cultura che affonda le proprie radici in un humus fatto di violenza e materialismo la cui fermentazione crea gas in grado di soffocare e distruggere la parte più profonda dell'essere umano, l'Anima.

Un triste, tristissimo esempio di questo crollo dei costumi spirituali è la tragedia della Sandy Hoook/Newtown, dove vivo: l'autore della strage era un ragazzo disumanizzato e depauperato del proprio Sentire da una vita trascorsa in una caverna buia dove le proiezione della violenza quotidianamente percepita ha trovato un'orrenda concretizzazione. lo stesso ambiente famigliare non gli aveva fornito gli strumenti atti a contrastare il formarsi di fantasmi nella sua mente : la madre lo accompagnava regolarmente al poligono cittadino a tirare con il fucile Bushmaster AR-15 semiatomatico per regalargli fiducia in sè stesso!

Io e Michele de Beni stiamo lavorando a un progetto che punta a fornire ai nostri ragazzi gli strumenti per arginare questa alta marea di violenza, attraverso il pensiero laterale e l'empowerment di un'intelligenza emotiva,  che funga da muro contro il degrado della Società dei giovani.
Anche noi, proprio come Creativ, abbiamo capito l'importanza di accogliere i ragazzi per dar loro compassione, nel senso etimologico del termine cioè l'anelito del cuore a immedesimarsi e camminare con le scarpe dell'altro, e spiritualità. Senza questo non siamo altro che animali in una caverna depauperati della vista dal buio causato dal vuoto di valori e insensibili al calore dello Spirito.

"The Shock At Seeing the Ugly Head of Violence In Our Sandy Hook Community

There are no explanations nor are there words to describe what this peaceful community has experienced on this day of infamy. Our prayers and condolences go out to those families who suffered and especially to those who lost their precious children. We will mourn their loss for many years. But as we come together to move forward, we must try to create a lasting memory for these children so that their violent deaths will never be forgotten. We must revisit this loss with a conference against violence.

We recently moved to this area and we have discovered a certain civility and respect for all the residents no matter their age. We have seen wonderful moments and events in Sandy Hook including the recent Christmas tree lighting where hundreds of parents and children stood singing and waiting for that tree to show its colors. But now that holiday spirit was almost taken away by the evil that possessed that sick mind who only focused on destruction of human lives. And we have to ask ourselves how is it possible for anyone to even think of killing children as they sat in their classroom. Are their contributing factors that we had overlooked that contributed to this kind of violent behavior?

Some believe that evil forces are responsible for this event. Others look for events and warning signs in the life of the killer that might have warned of future violence. Many blame the fact that he had access to these weapons. But all of these explanations fail to look at the fact that we have had many incidents like this in recent months. Is it possible that we have a biological attraction to violence so as to express our dissatisfaction with life? Have we become so accustomed to violence that we fail to see its ability to manipulate and distort reality in the minds of our youngsters? Why to allow film and tv producers to continue to pollute our children’s minds with violence? Why isn’t the leadership addressing this problem of extreme violent video games ,violent movies, and products that promote violence ? What happened to ‘Parents Against Violence’ attempt to remove these programs from the eyes of their children?

Recent research in how the mind understands incoming information identifies the most powerful mechanism that scans and makes sense of what is perceived. We  process many things we see using “patterns of recognition”. When your children have seen over 7,000 murders by the time they are sixteen, does this conditioning develop a propensity to violent behavior? Whatever happened to programs that celebrate life and the natural wonders that we are able to learn by studying nature, artistic and musical expression? Why aren’t we looking for new ways to raise our operating intelligence? We must reorganize our efforts to win back our children from those who continue to sell us violence.
